The Editor
CyberSentinel Weekly is written by Marcus Chen, a veteran cybersecurity journalist with over 20 years of industry experience. Marcus served as a senior editor at SC Magazine for 12 years and was a regular contributor to Dark Reading for 8 years before launching CyberSentinel Weekly in January 2024.
During his career, Marcus has interviewed hundreds of security startup founders, covered every major cybersecurity breach since Heartbleed, and built a network of CISOs and security practitioners across Fortune 500 organizations. He has attended and reported from Black Hat, DEF CON, and RSA Conference every year since 2005.
Marcus started CyberSentinel Weekly because he believed the cybersecurity media needed more opinionated, accountable analysis — not more news aggregation. Every issue contains specific opinions, predictions, and evaluations. When those predictions are wrong, Marcus addresses it directly.
The Newsletter
CyberSentinel Weekly publishes every Monday. Since January 2024, we have published 112 issues covering security startups, threat landscape analysis, vendor evaluations, market trends, and investment insights.
The newsletter has grown to 28,000+ subscribers, primarily CISOs, VPs of security, security engineers, investors, and technology executives. Growth has been entirely organic — no paid acquisition, no growth hacks, no engagement bait.
Advisory Panel
CyberSentinel Weekly is informed by an advisory panel of 12 CISOs from Fortune 500 companies. These practitioners provide real-world deployment insights, vendor evaluations, and market intelligence that inform the newsletter's analysis. Panel members participate anonymously to protect their organizations.
